Notre Dame Football News & Notes: Tommy Rees, Tee Shepard and More

Tommy Rees
Tommy Rees is under the most intense amount of scrutiny heading into the 2012 season. Yes, it is because of his immobility and his termed "spaghetti" arm, but also due to the his pending legal issues with St. Joseph's county in the State of Indiana. These issues were related to an incident in which the Irish signal caller was unable to scramble away from another defender, the police. Rees was charged with battery, resisting law enforcement and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. He was set for a hearing early this week but that was postponed. It is now expected that Rees will either plead guilty to the charges and receive a fine and/or community service. There is a possibility that Rees will even be cleared of the charges all together. The latter of course being more unlikely. Notre Dame is also not expected to suspend Rees thus making him available for every Notre Dame's fans favorite and most over-debated topic of "Who is Quarterback against Navy?" At this moment, Rees has participated in all summer workouts as stated by Brian Kelly at a charity event. According to all reports, Rees maintains his position as the Quarterback who knows how to run the offense most effectively (as much as most readers do not want to hear that). A conclusion should be reached very soon in this incident and Rees will be able to put this mistake behind him. After all, he was probably one of the last people that would have been suspected of something like this.

Tee Shepard
When you want something to happen so bad, you really try to believe it. That might be what is occurring right now with the rumors surrounding Tee Shepard's return to Notre Dame sometime in the near future. Was it a heart condition? Was it grades? Was it because his cousin going to Houston? No answer to truly clear because we have never been given an actual answer only speculation. Now, rumors have surfaced about the possibility of Shepard returning to Notre Dame at some point. According to the rumors, Shepard is working on getting cleared academically by the NCAA to return to Notre Dame. Shepard recently enrolled at the College of the Sequoias. That fact alone may make this story just rumor.
