Irish Sports News Recruiting Predictions (December 22, 2011)

National Signing Day is February 1st, 2012. Irish Sports News will update a list of potential recruits and their possible destinations until that day on (almost) every Thursday. Here is the first edition of our recruiting predictions of recruits making their college decision soon:

Gunner Kiel
6'4'', 220
Columbus, IN
Announcement Date: Before Dec. 25
Prediction: LSU. Notre Dame was likely the leader when Kiel de-committed from Indiana. However, recently, it appears that momentum is pushing LSU into the lead for Kiel. One of the most important factors for Kiel is playing around top talent. LSU would certainly provide that. However, he and his family are not telling or leaking much information. Vanderbilt and Notre Dame are still in play here.

KeiVarae Russell
6'0'', 170
Everett, WA
Announcement Date: Dec. 29 (3 p.m.)
Prediction: ND. Russell probably intended to make Washington his college choice at the beginning of this process. However, Notre Dame really impressed Russell. The chance of playing early and enjoying the off-the-field opportunities most likely will push him to choose Notre Dame.

  1. Pesimistic outlook on Kiel, not realistic. His whole family played ball in Indiana or the Midwest. Dad was at Butler, bro at Indiana, Uncle at ND. With BK recruiting him and letting him know that he is the future he goes ND! Also let's not forget Uncle Blair's influence. Kid's look up to their uncles and what Indiana kid wouldn't want to go to play for the Irish???

  2. I wanted Kiel to choose the Irish because of the momentum that would happen because of him. Let's be realistic, Kiel does not fit the offense and Notre Dame future will probably be in the hands of Hendrix or Gholson. Devin Fuller if he chooses could be a nice consolation prize for this staff.
