Gunner Kiel Update (December 23, 2011)

LSU, Vanderbilt and Notre Dame fans await the final decision by Gunner Kiel, each hoping that the top Quarterback is going to give them an early Christmas gift. However, no decision seems to be coming any time soon. Kiel had told the Indianapolis Star that he planned to choose before Sunday. According to many reports, Kiel simply does not know how to choose. He has been in contact with each staff, leading many to believe that each team has an equal opportunity to land his services. Predictions have been made by almost every recruiting site on the internet.

Each team has been rumored as Gunner's favorite. Notre Dame has probably been rumored as the favorite most often because of location and the family link to the school. LSU has been named Kiel's favorite lately. Vanderbilt has been rumored here and there as an alternative to either Notre Dame or LSU. Each probably has an equal shot at Gunner Kiel.

Since his de-commitment from Indiana, Notre Dame has been his rumored destination. Kiel is very familiar with the University. The Kiel family has enjoyed the type of personalities that they have encountered in South Bend. The possibility of playing big time college football is very possible if Gunner selects to play for Brian Kelly and Notre Dame.

LSU offers a fun environment with some of the best talent in the country. If a recruit wants to play with some of the most talented players in the countries, they would not go wrong by choosing to play for the Tigers.

Vanderbilt is very similar to Notre Dame. Obviously, Kiel would get an excellent education if he choose the Commodores. Vanderbilt also appears to be a team that might be trending up in the next few years.

Although many pundnits may have their own predictions, each school as of December 23, 2011 has an equal shot at landing one of the nation's top players. There is no word if Kiel will decide tomorrow but it seems reasonable to believe that Kiel will wait until after the holiday.

Until his decision, here are some of his highlights:

  1. Sorry Irish and Vandy fans, but there is a lot more smoke indicating that he's headed to LSU. Several rumors already circulating that the call has already been made to Miles. Even if that isn't true, everything indicates that he wants to go to LSU, but is simply trying to get over the distance factor. If it was going to be Notre Dame, it would have happened already. Vandy never really had a decent chance. In the end, he's a Tiger, but if I'm wrong, then he's a great player who will add alot to any team.

  2. Wishful thinking, you have to be a Tiger fan and I can respect that. But I think you have it backwards. Kiel chose IU because he wanted to play close to home and Notre Dame gives him that. I truly believe that the kid just doesn't know which place to choose. The Kiels have ties to South Bend and I think his family wants him to play for the Irish..............hopefully we'll soon find out. Go IRISH
