Urban Meyer Offered Scholarship to LeBron James At Notre Dame

This article reeked hunting for some publicity by Urban Meyer. Did he really offer LeBron James a scholarship at Notre Dame? It seemed like this would be something that more people would be familiar with before now. Maybe some in the know could enlighten everyone in this situation. But, how amazing would LeBron have been as a Tight End in a Notre Dame uniform?

From CBSSports.com:

As we all know, LeBron James is a complete freak of a human being. The size of Karl Malone with the speed of Allen Iverson.

He's 6-foot-8, 260 pounds of pure strength and power. Basketball has changed a lot over the years but even still, LeBron is not built like a basketball player. He's built like he should be a completely intimidating football player.

Which he once was in high school at St. Vincent-St. Mary. And then Notre Dame assistant coach Urban Meyer noticed him. Enough so, to make him an offer, via the Palm Beach Post.

“I offered him a scholarship when he was a sophomore in high school at St. Vincent St. Mary's,” Meyer said. “I was at Notre Dame. He was a receiver, and I was a receiver's coach."

Of course the two have a different connection now as Meyer is the head coach of LeBron's beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. He still has eilgibility left, you know.

So, how good was LeBron really as a receiver?

"Great," Meyer said.
