Notre Dame Recruiting Update: February 20, 2012

Michigan had a banner recruiting weekend landing several Notre Dame targets. Many of those targets were considered Notre Dame leans or had Notre Dame in the top group. Also, Notre Dame hopes to add slot receiver Davonte Neal tomorrow when he announces his college decision.

Davonte Neal Update
ESPN's 8th ranked recruit nationally will decide tomorrow between Notre Dame, Arizona, North Carolina and Arkansas. Last week, Dion Caputi reported that Neal would sign with Notre Dame. However, more recent reports have Neal signing with hometown Arizona to stay close to his family.

Taco Charlton Update
Former Eilar Hardy teammate and current Pickerington standout Taco Charlton verbaled to Michigan over the weekend. Notre Dame figured to be in the mix for the "former Buckeye fan". Charlton is a 4-star recruit and ranked 183rd nationally by Rivals.com.

Kyle Bosch Update
2013 Offensive Line prospect Kyle Bosch, a former Notre Dame fan, visited South Bend and Ann Arbor over the weekend. Bosch also verbally committed to Michigan. Bosch's recruitment was mishandled by Kelly and his staff. Kelly had the opportunity to lock up Bosch last summer but failed to offer him a scholarship. Bosch is a 4-star recruit and ranked 60th nationally by Rivals.com

Logan Tuley-Tillman Update
Another 2013 Offensive Line prospect Logan Tuley-Tillman also committed to Michigan. Tuley-Tillman is a 4-star recruit and 109rd nationally by Rivals.com

  1. WTF! Losing 3 to UM? They have 11 Verbals for 2013...11!!! We've got 1.
I'm telling you now, recruiting is a problem with this staff. Something just isn't right, this will be BK's downfall. Second year in, and 19th ranked class? That is pretty bad, ND should have a top ten every year.
Man, wtf is going on down in the Bend?

  2. Bottom line, IF YOU WIN THEY WILL COME! The only ranked team we've beaten in the BK era is Utah, and they were over-ranked. Sure, ND beat Michigan State this past season, but they're not an outstanding team. If you don't win, you have to somehow convince an 18 year-old kid to consider your school - how can BK convince a kid to come to a school that has not done anything in years, and recently lost to a mediocre Florida State team in the Champs Bowl. Hoke is winning, and turned around a mediocre Michigan team in ONE YEAR. Thank God Urban is at Ohio State - Otherwise Michigan would rule the Big 10. Again, IF YOU WIN THEY WILL COME, until we win games were suppose to win and win games were suppose to lose, recruiting will SUCK!

  3. Hold your horses boys, remember committing and signing are not the same thing. BK and staff will continue to recruit who they feel their needs are and early commit or not will sign some and lose some. Bottom line they will end up with a top 20 class and if things work out right a top 10 class. The positive is that with Longo as the strength coach all the classes Kelly brings in will jump their spots after spending 3 or 4 years in the program. I would like to see how these classes rank after 4 years and compare them to now. ND is in good hands and we will be in the mix nationally again. That is as long as Tommy is not our QB.
