This week Rivals.com released its initial 2013 Team Recruiting Rankings. Following a strong spring recruiting season, Notre Dame landed at #10. Notre Dame's arch-rival, Michigan, landed at #1.

Notre Dame landed at this spot with 12 commitments, six 4-star recruits and six 3-star recruits. Currently, Notre Dame's highest ranked recruit is John Montelus. The 6'5'', 295 lbs, offensive guard is ranked 79th nationally and the 2nd best at his position.

Notre Dame needs to add more top 100 quality players like Jaylon Smith, Ryan Green and Issac Rochell to move up in the team rankings. But as Rivals will even admit rankings don't mean anything.

For example, Florida State finished 6th in the last ten years of recruiting but 36th overall in wins. Likewise, Notre Dame finished 14th in recruiting but 46th in wins. Therefore, there is not a necessarily a correlation between the recruiting and winning.
