All-Star Game Round Up

US Army All-American Bowl
Notre Dame picked a commitment from Elijah Shumate at the US Army All-American Bowl. The newest Irish Commitment played linebacker in front of a record 37,893 fans. Shumate was the lone commitment received by Notre Dame. Other Notre Dame targets, Jordan Payton and Shaq Thompson, selected California. Notre Dame commitment Jarron Jones had one sack during the game despite not being 100% due to an injury. Cornerback target Yuri Wright led the East with five tackles and one sack. Sources have said that Wright was close to announcing for Notre Dame at the game. Notre Dame is now expected to be the leader above Rutgers. Another Notre Dame target Arik Armstead. According to Scouts, Inc., "He is a big kid and can be tough versus the run and provide some pressure as a bull rusher, but we came away from this game even more convinced that his best fit and better upside is at offensive tackle, the position where he is ranked in the ESPNU 150." Armstead is expected to make a decision soon and join the basketball team of his school of choice.

Under Armor All-American Game
Former Notre Dame commitment Ronald Darby had a sensational game. However, this week at the Under Armor All-American game gave Darby a chance to look at some other schools and eventually de-commit from Notre Dame. It is unclear whether this is permanent or Notre Dame still has a chance to get back in the race. Notre Dame target Brian Poole returned an interception 93 yards for a touchdown (can be seen in the video below). This was an Under Armor All-American game record. Notre Dame continues to flip Poole from Florida. Another Notre Dame target Nelson Agholor was hampered all week due to an injury. Notre Dame is probably third at the moment behind Florida and USC.

Semper Fi All-American Bowl
Notre Dame commitment Tee Shepard locked down the Wide Receivers both in the game and in practice. According to SI.com, "[t]he highly touted corner shut down teammates in practice, something that carried over successfully to Tuesday's game. He showed great field awareness and coverage skills and hung with a number of talented wideouts on the East. On the recruiting front, Shepard put to rest any rumors of straying from his Notre Dame commitment." Deontay Greenberry did not play as well, however, out-of-position at Safety. Jordan Westerkamp, who is believed to close to selecting Notre Dame, made a few plays at the Wide Receiver position.
