Prediction: Kiel Will Commit To Notre Dame

Recently, Irish Sports News learned that distance still remained a big factor for Kiel in making a decision in his recruitment. This would eliminate programs like LSU and USC. Both of these programs are far away from Columbus, Indiana, hometown of Gunner Kiel. This leaves Notre Dame and Vanderbilt on Kiel's list. For those wondering, Nashville (location of Vanderbilt) is about 30 minutes further than South Bend. So, in that case, there is not much difference in the two teams. What about Kiel's concern about academics? Vanderbilt ranks at a tie with Rice for 17th just ahead of Notre Dame at 19th. So far the two programs are quite even. Therefore, where do the programs stack up on the field? The past three years Notre Dame is combined 22-15. Vanderbilt is 10-26. This year according to Scout.com Notre Dame ranks 11th in recruiting for the 2012 class. Vanderbilt ranks 32rd. This is where Notre Dame begins to separates itself from Vanderbilt. Furthermore, the Quarterback taking most of the snaps this year for Vanderbilt, Jordan Rodgers, still has two years of eligibility. Therefore, Notre Dame can sell the unsettled Quarterback battle. Look for Gunner Kiel to commit to Notre Dame in the near future.
