Notre Dame reappeared in both polls this weekend for the first time the beginning of the season. The Irish enter the 12th week of the Associated Press at the 24th spot. In the Coaches poll, Notre Dame enters at 25.
The Coaches poll is one-third of the BCS formula. As of this week, Notre Dame finds itself outside the current BCS rankings. The Irish need to finish inside the top 14 to become an at-large selection for the BCS. As of right now, this appears unlikely to happen.
Notre Dame would have to win its two final games. The next game against Boston College seem a likely win but the game against Stanford is a much more daunting.
Even if Notre Dame is able to win these final two games, Notre Dame being ranked in the top 14 of the BCS may not happen. The Irish would need a lot of help from other teams ahead of them.
