Kiel Me Now

Last week, Gunner Kiel committed to Notre Dame if you like rumors. If you like hard evidence like Rivals or Scout, Kiel remains uncommitted after decommitting from Indiana. Gunner Kiel is the nation's top high school quarterback. He is ranked the 15th recruit overall in the nation.

Notre Dame is considered to be the leader for Kiel. Recently, SportsCrack.com, a website known for comical sports t-shirts, reported that Kiel would enroll early at Notre Dame. It is important to note that the owner of the website has ties to Notre Dame.

Also, Rival Analyst Josh Helmbolt answered a question about Kiel and Notre Dame recently stating:

"Notre Dame we know for sure is going to be a contender in the Kiel sweepstakes now that he has begun to re-evaluate his recruitment because the five-star quarterback took a visit to South Bend this past weekend for the Irish's home game against USC.

From the beginning, Notre Dame was a strong player in Kiel's recruitment and the expectation before his Indiana verbal was that he would eventually pick the Irish. Now that Kiel is taking a second look at other schools, Notre Dame does appear to be the team to beat again. If it is going to happen for the Irish, I expect it to happen sooner than later.

Although Kiel has not revealed any more contenders, there are schools that have been thrown out as possibilities, and Michigan is one of them. At this point, though, it does not appear there is much traction with that particular recruitment. Michigan has one of the top quarterbacks in the 2013 class committed to them, and three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster with eligibility after this season.

I actually do expect more teams to get involved before Kiel finalizes his college decision. Kiel has been quiet since this past weekend's visit to Notre Dame, so there is a chance that the visit may have cinched the deal for the Irish and a commitment is imminent, but my expectation is the next bit of news we hear from the Kiel camp has to do with other schools becoming involved and potentially other visits being taken."

Time will tell. Kiel's commitment would be huge for offensive recruiting.
