Commentary: Notre Dame Football Has Stabilized

On Saturday night, Notre Dame became bowl-eligible for the fourth straight year. This is the most consistent streak since the streak of 12 seasons from 1987 to 1998. The program is far winning a national title. However, the program has now stabilized into a excellent basis that can be built on.

Brian Kelly is responsible for the last two teams but is probably not the reason for the stabilization of the program. When Charlie Weis took over, the depth of the team was poor. Under Weis' regime, he fixed this issue. The depth and talent of the team is one of the main reasons for this four year streak.

Now, Notre Dame must build on this limited success and continue to do what has gotten them to this point. If Brian Kelly and his staff can do this, then Notre Dame will be consistently competing for BCS Bowl games.
