Spring Questions Answered

10. What jump do the Irish take in the Spring?
If the Spring Game is used as a barometer, it did not look as if the Irish really took a large jump. However, the practices simply ran smoother this Spring. The Irish most likely achieved much more success as far as development than last Spring. It seems likely under this staff that the Irish took a large jump, however, fans will have to wait until the fall to truly see the jump.
9. Do the recruits buy into Notre Dame this Spring?
With commitments from Ronald Darby, Nicky Baratti and Scott Daly, it is clear that recruits are buying into Notre Dame in a large manner. It is possible that Notre Dame will receive several commitments from Spring Vistors Justin Ferguson and Bryce Treggs at a later time. Therefore, Notre Dame had a very successful Spring in capturing the attention of recruits.
8. How did the Irish improve in Off-Season workouts?
It was clear early on that Notre Dame had improved greatly in the weight room. The summer workouts might be extremely important for some players to get on the field. An example of this is Louis Nix. Nix needs to improve his stamina to really make an impact on the field this fall.
7. Are Freshman Aaron Lynch and Ishaq Williams ready to make an impact?
If Lynch's performance in the Spring Game is any preview of this fall, opposing offenses better make note of his freakish ability to get to the Quarterback. Brian Kelly has tried to temper expectations for Lynch but it looks like he is primed for a great season.
6. Who will play next to Manti Te'o at the Will Postion?
It appears that Notre Dame will start Carlo Calabrese. However, Dan Fox and Kendall Moore both demonstrated that they can play well at the positon during the Spring Game. These two are needed to push Calabrese or start at the position.
5. Do Bennett Jackson and Lo Wood step up to fill the lack of depth at corner?
Lo Wood flashed some ability and confidence during the Spring Game with an interception of Tommy Rees. Bennett Jackson has clearly shown that he belongs on this side of the football. These two players definitely add depth to the cornerback position.
4. Can Louis Nix give quality depth at the Nose Guard position?
Nix definitely has talent. However, he needs to improve his stamina to truly make an impact in the fall. Nix can give about 10 to 15 quality snaps at the moment. He needs to increase his work volume to really provide a viable option at the Nose Guard position.
3. Who steps up at the Dog position?
Not one but two people step up and made a name for themselves this fall. Their names are Prince Shembo and Danny Spond. They both compliment each other very well. Both of these players can play high-level football for Notre Dame in 2011.
2. How does Notre Dame recover from the Michael Floyd suspension?
Yes, because there might not actually be one? There may not be any suspension for Floyd. Floyd is really needed to solidify a shaky Wide Receiver corps.
1. Who will be the QB?
It seemed like there was going to be an answer to this question. However, fans will not know until the future.
