Saturday's open practice saw a few players standing out in the open practice and in particular the "3-on-3 drill". For the first time in the Spring, Notre Dame was in pads. A few players who needed to step up for Notre Dame appeared to do so in the open practice and in a particular the "3-on-3 drill.
Practice highlights: Irish go live from Irish Illustrated on Vimeo.
Steve Filer made several plays in the "3-on-3 drill" today which demonstrated his ability to shed blocks and make the tackle. Filer did this several times during the drills. Notre Dame really needs Filer to step up at the OLB position.
Bennett Jackson also made an excellent play stripping the ball away from Cierre Wood during the "3-on-3 drill". Jackson obviously is need to add depth to the CB position. It is yet to be seen how well he can cover.
Louis Nix made an excellent play shredding a block and tackling RB Jonas Gray in the "3-on-3 drill". It definitely showcased some of his abilities to be able to hold the point of attack and make the tackle. Hopefully, he can give Notre Dame quality reps this fall.
Ishaq Williams and Aaron Lynch continue to impress on-lookers with their size. Adding pads does not change that at all! Lynch made some of his fellow Irish linemen look foolish at times. It is still yet to be seen whether or not he will be able to make a significant contribution.
Lo Wood played well in today and had an excellent interception against Andrew Hendrix. Wood is needed to add depth at the corner position and likely become the Nickel or 3rd corner on the Depth Chart.
